MORE FROM BEAUTIFUL FLORIDA…

Hi folks, here’s another one from my same trip to Central Florida. What a beautiful place, what a beautiful state!.
This one was taken minutes before the shot below. This is a great place with compositions almost every step you take. The key here as always is the light. You have to catch it at the right time and right angle in order to capture some impact in camera. This particular morning was somewhat discouraging at first as there was no fog and we were there expecting to see some. Fog makes a huge difference in captures as you know. To our pleasant surprise, the fog just came rolling in before the sun came up and stayed for quite a while. I must have come back with close to 500 images from the field. Of course only a few really catch attention.
No blending here, this is a single file processed for basic adjustments in Lr4. Cleaning up, dodge and burning, local contrast, overall tonal contrast and sharpening done in CS6

Hopefully I’ll be posting some others from that great morning.

Hope you all have been doing great. Memorial weekend is coming, great time for some shooting.
As always, thanks for stopping by and looking, your comments and critiques are appreciated.
Have a nice evening

BEAUTIFUL FLORIDA…

Hi folks, been while. I’ve been all over the place and working like a dog!, on top of that the economic situation continues to affect the industry I work for, but, there’s always a nice landscape scene to view and admire the hand of The Creator, I love landscape photography!..
This was a foggy morning taken somewhere along a nice scenic highway in Florida, north of Miami.
I took this one a few months ago with Greg Anderson who knows Florida up and down left and right and all over the place. Florida is beautiful, and while yes, there are many beautiful places in this great country, Florida is beautiful! and it is a great state to photograph.
I hope everyone has been doing great. This is a single file processed in Lr4 and CS6 (love them both). Not much done to it, basic cleaning, adjusted contrast, some local dodge and burning, and added tonal contrast in the upper part of the image to define the clouds and birds.
As always, I’d like to thanks you for visiting and looking, I appreciate your comments and critiques.
Have a nice week ahead.

FIRE IN THE EVERGLADES

April 11, 2012

This is the fire that broke out yesterday in a sector of the Everglades located in Miami Dade. The flames were totally out of control for quite some time. I have no idea how it started, if it was caused by human intervention or if it was something else.
The sad thing is that it devastated a good portion of that side. I went home, got my gear and headed to the place. I found this compo interesting as the little plane on the upper left hand corner was just coming out from the columns of smoke and it emerged out giving e the opportunity to include it in the scene.

This is another cloudless, though beautiful sunrise in Stuart, Florida. This is an amazing place and the opportunities are countless. There is a stretch of rock with all shapes and types. Light was great that morning and allowed for some interesting side lit items such a the wave action around this lonesome rock.
This is a single image using a 2 stop Reverse Graduated Singh Ray filter to deal with the dynamic range.
Hope everyone is doing great, wish all visitors and friends a great Tuesday night!

FLORIDA THE BEAUTIFUL

Well, it’s been a long time but here I am. This capture is from a few months back (2011) and it is one of the most beautiful places in the State of Florida, Washington Oaks State Park. Believe it or not I never went to sleep the night before I shot this photo. My adrenaline was shooting thorough the roof thinking about the possibilities. There were no clouds, however, there was great light, mood and colors. I love the purples here.

Hope everyone is doing well. Keep shooting the beauty of creation and enjoy every second of it!

These are 2 from this morning. Made another trip out there with Greg Anderson. No clouds again, but the light was great and the entire place has changed completely. The round rocks from last week are completely under sand and water, amazing!, guess that’s the way of the ocean.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend,

This is one from last week during my trip to this area with Greg Anderson and Juancadavid. I love the round shape of these rocks. This is a spot that is rarely available for photographers unless the tide conditions are given. Though no clouds, it was a great sunrise.
Hope everyone is doing great, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERY ONE!!!.

STUART, FL

Here’s another one from my latest trip with Greg Anderson to beautiful Stuart, Florida. What a place!. Very similar to Blowing Rocks Preserve and Coral Cove Park, but definitely larger and with some other historical elements included such as “The House of Refuge” located just a few yards from this very spot.
Greg had indicated previously that this was a great place, so the desicion was made, Stuart it was for that weekend!.
Conditions seemed to be very attractive from the forecast, it actually called for 69-71 degrees, 20% chance of precipitation, 1.5 foot tides and 4 MPH wind. We could not ask for more, at least from the forecast the day before.
Off we went, I was pleasantly surprised by the photographic potential of the place. Although we never got the sort of light we expected, or wanted to get, we did get great clouds as you can appreciate in this capture.
I have traditionally blended most of my photographs in CS5 using layers, however, I have been experimenting alot with a number of filters and I very much like the results.
Though I recognize the advantages of blending 2, 4, or whatever number of captures in CS5 for proper exposure, I have also found that is an intricate and not so simple art to take a single capture using filters for proper exposure and getting it right in one single file.
For this capture for example I used a Singh Ray Neutral Polarizer in combination with a Singh Ray 2 stop Reverse Graduated Neutral Density filter. Using GND filters is not a matter of just putting anyone on and take the pic. As an example using a 3 stop GND filter here would render the sky too dark and the foreground too light, making the entire photo very unrealistic.
While I not an expert at using filters and succeeding the first time, I have been enjoying this very much.
It is also very important to mention that when choosing what filters to buy, it is critical to choose the right kind. I have found after trying a few brands that there is one that always emerges as #1 in quality, that is SINGH RAY.
There are basically 2 reasons why I am a customer of Singh Ray for all of my filters:
1 – The quality of the product. It is very simple, they are just the best. They don’t change the colors of the scene, they maintain a very faithful rendition of what your eyes see.
2 – The integrity of the company. It is a pleasure to deal with this company. There have been times when I have had issues with a filter (not that it came with defects) and they have been more than helpful, very fast to assist no matter the issue, and they have ALWAYS resolved my problems. They are truly one of a kind.
Folks, I’m not getting paid to write this, I just have a passion for quality and inbtegrity and when I find those 2 things combined, I do speak about it.
So, if you are in the process to make a decision about filters, make no mistake, SINGH RAY is the right choice, and if you own a different brand and you want to upgrade, SINGH RAY will be the choice.
Anyway, time to go for now. As always, thanks for stopping by and looking, I appreciate your comments and/or critiques

Colors & Shapes of Florida

Here’s one from my trip with Greg Anderson to Central Florida. What a luscious landscape this is. I’m bound to return to this beautiful land time and time again.
Florida is beautiful folks, those who complain about the fact that we have no mountains and other types of terrain really lack a sense perception of beauty that God gave our wonderful state. I count myself fortunate to be here and have the opportunity to shoot and record in digital images this wonderful gift we have called “FLORIDA”.

I used a Singh Ray circular polarizer and also some digital filters by NIK SOFTWARE for stylizing in post production.

More from Florida coming up….
